Villablanca Veterinary Hospital understands the importance of establishing a modern anaesthesiology service, with qualified personnel. Our personalized service informs patient’s owner of the advances of the medicine use in the field today, for those who in the past had fear the risks and consequences of primitive methods use before. For example, a 15 year old dog with heart problems can have a mouth cleaning or other surgery or examination under sedation or anaesthesia, only if that will improve their quality of life. In addition, our facilities and services greatly enhance success in handling emergency situations and critical care.
In recent years, the field of anaesthesia has absorbed other fields long forgotten, like pain management for both surgical and chronic due to osteoarthritis, cancer, neuropathies, etc…
Anaesthesia begins with a detailed pre-sedation assessment, where necessary tests are performed to check current health condition. Where we choose the best method of drugs usage, as well as, the most suitable technique by following proper protocols and we adapt sedation for each patient case. The process does not end when the surgeon gives the last stitch, but continued with observance and intensive care with the past of time (minutes, hours or days depending on the severity and state) until complete recovery.
Dr. Antonio Benitez, a founding member of Spanish Society of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia with many years’ experience in this field is our supervisor in the anaesthesiology service department. The equipment available at Villablanca Veterinary Hospital, allows anaesthesia through inhalation with isoflurane and sevoflurane, solely or partially intravenous anaesthesia, regional block and locoregional anaesthetic or analgesic infusions, balanced anaesthesia, including advanced invasive blood pressures monitoring, etc….
Our commitment is the welfare of our patients, customer’s satisfaction and the endless evolution of our profession.
